Youths represent 74 per cent as INEC registers 752,011 new voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said 74 per cent of applications received so far on the online portal for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise are from youths.
Its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, who made the disclosure yesterday in Abuja, confirmed that 752,011 new voters had registered online in the last 21 days, representing an average of 35,810 registrants daily.
“Out of this figure, 562,254 (74.7 per cent) are youths between the ages of 18 and 34. In terms of gender, 493,128 are male, while 369,188 are female registrants,” he stated.
On state-by-state distribution, while 232,880 new applications came from Osun, making it the state with the highest new registrants, Ebonyi on the other hand, recorded the lowest, with 1,046 applications.
