The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has asked the National Assembly to approve fresh external loans of $4.05bn and €710m for his regime.

President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the National Assembly to approve for it $4,054,476,863 and €710 million. Buhari is also seeking the nation’s legislature’s approval for grant components of $125 million in the 2018-2020 external rolling borrowing plan.

The Senate and House of Representatives have constituted two committees to fine-tune the controversial Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) for presidential assent.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, The Gambia, to “issue provisional measures to urgently stop the Nigerian government and National Assembly from supporting and pushing through two bills to gag the media, and impose arbitrary and harsh punishment on journalists, broadcast stations, media houses and media practitioners in Nigeria.”
