The police in Niger State have arrested one Salisu Useini, who was caught donning military uniform.
It was learnt that the 35-year-old father of four was in the habit of wearing the military uniform, moving about the community and answering “soldier man.”
It was learnt that Useini, who lives at Tufa Village in the Gurara Local Government Area of the state, was trailed and apprehended by men of the police Anti-kidnapping Squad attached to the Gurara Division.
It was learnt that Useini, who allegedly wore the uniform on a daily basis, used it to bully community members and cause trouble in the entire Gurara area.
It was gathered that the suspect had been parading himself as a soldier for the past five years in Tufa village of Gurara.
Useini told News men that he was not a criminal but had a passion for the military.
“I love wearing the uniform to intimidate people so as to have my way. I don’t use it to rob people; I just love wearing army uniform to move about.
“I have no regrets dressing like a soldier because this is what I like doing. If given the opportunity again, I will wear it as long as I don’t rob people with it.”
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said police operatives arrested Useini based on a tip-off.
Abubakar disclosed that the operatives recovered from him an army cap, trousers, a police belt and 15 photographs of him in military uniform.
According to the police spokesman, the suspect could not give any satisfactory account of how he got the military uniform.
The police said Useini would be charged to court as soon as they conclude their investigation.
