Prof Doknan Sheni, Vice-Chancellor of the university, disclosed this to the News men on Thursday.

“When I took over as Vice-Chancellor eight years ago, there were only 93 staff, both academic and non-academic, most of whom were visiting staff.

“But today, we have 413 staff, both academic and non-academic, with 64 of them sent abroad for their Ph.D programmes.

“They are in the different universities, including those in South Africa, Malaysia, Uganda, UK and USA which entered into Memorandum of Understanding with us.

“This gave birth to the accreditation of 17 of our academic programmes in 2016 by National University Commission, boosting our academic activities and performances as a young university, ’’ Sheni stated.

Sheni disclosed that by God’s grace, 15 more programmes would be accredited by the NUC in May.

He expressed joy that most of the 64 staff who left the shores of Nigeria had returned, to improve performances in the institution.
