Man arraigned for allegedly stabbing neighbour in the head

A 25-year-old man, Bashiru Yahaya, who allegedly stabbed his neighbour on the head with a broken bottle, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kaduna Upper Sharia Court.
Yahaya, who lives at No. AT13, Calabar St. by Katsina Road Kaduna, pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and criminal intimidation.
The prosecutor, Insp. Shehu Abdullahi, told the court that Dalhatu Hassan of the same address reported the matter at the Sabon Gari Police Station on Feb. 3.
He said on the same date, at about 1pm the complainant and the accused had a misunderstanding, and in the process the accused used a broken bottle to stab him in the head.
The prosecutor added that the complainant sustained serious injury on his head and was rushed to the hospital.
Abdullahi said the offences contravened Sections 215 and 232 of the Penal Code Laws of Kaduna State 2017.
The defendant denied committing the offences, while the judge, Alhaji Aminu Jumare, granted him bail in the sum of N5, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the matter until Feb. 12 for hearing.
